Effective September 2, 2026

Wordsicle is a word game, not a data business. The short version: the game itself collects nothing. No account, no ads, no tracking, no third-party SDKs. Two features do send something somewhere, the daily leaderboard and history sync, and both are yours to switch on. This page says exactly what each one sends.

The game

Each day's puzzle is generated on your device from the date, and the dictionary ships inside the app, so you can play with no connection at all. Your boards, scores, streak, badges and settings live on your phone. The widget reads that same local data to show your streak. Nothing about your play leaves the device unless you turn on one of the two things below.

The daily leaderboard

The leaderboard is off until the moment you pick a name. Picking one is the opt-in. From then on, each finished Daily Roll sends:

All of it is tied to a random player ID the app makes up on your device. No email, no phone number, no account; the ID says nothing about who you are.

Alongside each submission the server keeps two more things:

To step off: turn the leaderboard toggle off in Settings and nothing more is sent. To be gone entirely: Remove My Scores in Settings deletes your name and every score you ever posted from the server.

History sync

So a reinstall keeps your streak, the app mirrors your daily history to storage that belongs to your Apple or Google account rather than to the app: iCloud key-value storage on iPhone, Android Backup on Android. That copy is yours, held by Apple or Google under their own terms. Wordsicle can't read it, and turning off iCloud or backup for the app stops it.

Sharing

Share cards are made on your device. They leave it only when you choose to share one through your phone's share sheet, and only to the app you pick. The link in a share carries your result and the shape of your board, nothing else.

Children

Wordsicle asks nobody for personal information, children included. A leaderboard name is the only thing you ever type, and it can be anything.

This website

wordsicle.com uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views and where they came from. It sets no cookies, keeps no ID, and doesn't follow you anywhere else. If you join the Android waitlist, the email address you enter is kept for one purpose: the single email announcing Android's launch. It's never shared and never used for anything else. Want it removed sooner? Email us.

Changes

If Wordsicle ever adds a feature that changes any of this, we'll update this policy first and move the effective date above.
